Leftovers gives every phone a private cloud account the first time the app opens — no email, no password, nothing to sign up for. This page is how you get rid of it, whether you still have the app or not.
It happens right then. The app comes back exactly as it looked the day you installed it.
Open LeftoversIf you used Leftovers in a browser: open grableftovers.com in that same browser. If its storage is still present, your kitchen may appear and you can use the deletion path above.
If you used the iPhone app: uninstalling removes the app's local storage, so reinstalling does not by itself recover the old anonymous account. To identify it for deletion, rejoin through another household member or email us the 6-character join code you saved. Without another member or that code, we cannot safely identify which anonymous account is yours.
Email privacy@grableftovers.com with the subject “Delete my Leftovers account” and include your kitchen's 6-character join code — the code on the Settings screen that you'd share with family. That code is what lets us find the right kitchen.
We'll confirm by email when it's done, and within 30 days at the latest.
Because there is no email address or password on a Leftovers account, we have no way to look you up by name. If you don't have the app and don't have your join code, we genuinely cannot tell which account is yours — and we won't guess, because guessing would mean deleting some other family's kitchen. Write to us anyway and we'll help you find the code if there's any way to.
| What | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your cloud account | Deleted. Not deactivated, not hidden — the account record is removed. |
| Your place in the kitchen | Deleted, along with the notification settings for your devices. |
| The kitchen itself — food list, meals you logged, scans, corrections | Deleted if you're the last person in it. If family members are still in that kitchen, it stays with them: the food is theirs too. |
| Recipes published to the Community Cookbook | They belong to the kitchen, so they follow the same rule: gone when the kitchen goes, kept by the family when the family stays. |
| Scan photos you let us keep (“Help improve accuracy”) | Deleted with the kitchen. Everyone else's are deleted automatically after 30 days anyway. |
| Everything on your phone | Wiped — kitchen, cooking story, grocery list, profile, language choice. |
“Start fresh” is not this. The Start fresh button in Settings empties your kitchen on your phone and leaves the account alone. This page deletes the account.
